Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara was a product of his time, cuture and country. He was a social reformer, an educationist, a writer and a mystic. He will be remembered as a great pioneer and champion of value oriented education. He is the pride not only of Kerala but of entire mankind. He was the inspiration behind the founding of the first indigenous congregation for women congregation of the Mother of Carmel (CMC).

CMC is a religious order founded in Kerala in 1866, in order to impart education especially to women and children. Ever since its origin, the Sisters have been active in the field of education. The lives of many young girls and boys, belonging to different classes and religious communities and linguistic groups are being shaped and moulded in these institutions.

We, CMC sisters, inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ who was an educator and liberator, stand for the total formation of the human person and the upliftment of women and children. This vision and principles give our educational institutions a specific character. Human excellence being the priority, we aim at forming children into well integrated, matured, patriotic, compassionate and socially conscious human beings.

ST.XAVIER'S PUBLIC SCHOOL
The origin of St. Xavier's Public School dates back to 2003 when the school embarked on its long journey first. The school has a humble origin and a tremendous growth. Who else can stand testimony to this great institution than its students, alma matter and numerous satisfied parents over these years! St. Xavier's Public School Pothanicad is owned and governed by the Catholic Diocese of Kothamangalam, inspired by the teachings of Jesus whose values are love, peace, fraternity, equality, joy, service, forgiveness etc. The school having served Pothanicad in the field of education resulting in moulding professionally and technically skilled personals. It was a time when the vast majority of the people in Pothanicad village were living in squalor and misery. The poor were compelled to struggle to earn for a living. A caste-ridden society was the order of the day then. With a spiritual and social thrust and great zeal, many of the tribal were converted into Christianity and became citizens, worthy of God and worthy of our nation. The school started functioning at Pothanicad with 64 students and 6 members of staff. At present the number hit almost thousand. The climate for education is adorable in this rural area with a calm atmosphere, unlike the modern fanfare of cities and towns.
